Idyllic Helford

Idyllic Helford is one of our more gentle itineraries. It’s a 3 mile walk with swimming options along the way. The walk is not challenging for most people but you should be able to walk off road.

The swimming is as much or as little as you want. We’re swimming along the river banks and creeks and so is less demanding than sea swimming. If you just want a leap in the river, you can. If you want to enjoy the view from the river banks with a brew, no worries.

Absolutely. We want our trips to be inclusive and sociable events for everyone to enjoy. No-one is left out.

This trip is more about the bird life along the river. We cannot guarantee sitings as wildlife can be rather unpredictable. Species we have enjoyed here include Egrets, Grey Heron, Cormorants, Buzzards and Kingfishers. It is also possible to see Common and Grey Seals as well as Dolphins although these sightings are rare.

We would advise you to bring the following:
1. Sunscreen and a hat
2. Suitable walking footwear and water shoes
3. Some warm clothing to change into after your swim
4. Lightweight waterproof and warm coat (weather depending)
5. Drinking water
6. Swimming goggles and a towel/dry robe
